Ancient Knowledge in Every Bean
The Arhuaco tribe, existing since the Pre-Columbian era, is a true reflection of our past. The "Elder Brothers," as they call themselves, have been isolated in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, living in harmony with the diverse ecosystems of the region.
Coffee is believed to have the power to share the Arhuaco message of preserving the Earth with us, the "Younger Brothers." With deep respect for their ancient practices, we now offer their coffee to the world, supporting their mission of caring for Mother Earth.
A Message from the Elder Brothers
The Arhuaco coffee practices focus on the conservation and restoration of nature, fundamental principles of the "Law of Origin" or "Law of Knowing." This belief system is mandated by their spiritual elders, the "Mamos."
Wild, Sacred, Direct
The Younger Brothers Trading Company sources authentic indigenous products from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, through conservation projects and a long-standing friendship with the Kogi "Mamos" and Arhuaco community leaders, who have blessed this coffee.
The coffee you purchase is directly sourced from Kogi or Arhuaco farmers, ensuring direct benefit to the indigenous families who produced it.
Hand-picked Goodness
This organic, pesticide-free coffee is meticulously hand-picked at the precise moment of peak ripeness. Enjoy our varieties: Arhuaco Medium Roast, Kogi Medium Roast, Kogi Sauna Family Medium Roast, and Kogi Espresso Roast.
Cultural and Technical Reasons
The Kogi and Arhuaco refuse to get their crops certified as organic, as they believe their ancient methods inherently follow the principles of organic farming. They see no need for external certification, as they are the true protectors of the land.
Technically, the indigenous communities lack the resources and infrastructure to navigate the certification process, given their remote locations, limited literacy, and lack of formal land ownership documentation.
Wild Organic, Indigenous Organic
While not certified organic, The Younger Brothers Coffee is as organic as naturally possible. Grown in the wild, blessed by the Mamos, and harvested in the tradition of the people, it embodies the deepest respect for Mother Earth and her ancient stewards.
Thank you for taking the time to understand our approach to representing the true organic nature of this indigenous coffee.
